Education. Dr. Pitman graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine and trained in surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia Division). His plastic surgery training was at the Institute for Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at the New York University School of Medicine, and he was certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery following completion of his training.
Liposuction practice. Dr. Pitman is a master of liposuction. He has completed more than 5,000 liposuction procedures, and has taught his techniques to thousands of plastic surgeons from around the world.
Teaching Contributions. Dr. Pitman is a prolific writer and teacher. His landmark plastic surgery textbook, Liposuction & Aesthetic Surgery, established him as an authority on liposuction. He has authored 29 original papers published in peer-reviewed medical journals. He is also author of eleven book chapters on plastic surgery and has been featured in 12 teaching videotapes demonstrating his surgical techniques. He frequently lectures to his colleagues at medical meetings and holds the position of Clinical Professor of Surgery at New York University School of Medicine.
